About Me

About Me

I’m Harriet Newman-Rose BSc (Hons), MSc, a Clinical Animal Behaviourist working under Through Eyes of Dogs. My work focuses on helping people understand what is happening for their dogs emotionally, physically and contextually, so behaviour can be responded to with insight rather than control.

I have over 25 years’ experience living and working with dogs, having grown up on a farm in rural Kent where dogs were part of everyday life. From an early age, I was interested not just in what dogs did, but why, a curiosity that has shaped my approach ever since.

Alongside my academic training, I previously spent thirteen years as a Police Officer. That background gave me a strong grounding in human behaviour, communication under pressure, and working with complex, emotionally charged situations — all of which are central to effective behaviour work with dogs and their families.

I have now completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Animal Behaviour and work within recognised professional and ethical frameworks. My approach is welfare-led, pain-aware, and informed by current research and clinical practice. I focus on understanding behaviour rather than suppressing it, and on supporting owners to see the world from their dog’s perspective.

Through Eyes of Dogs was created to reflect that shift in perspective — helping owners understand what behaviour is communicating, and how best to respond in a way that supports both emotional wellbeing and physical comfort.

I work with clients face-to-face across Hampshire, and remotely with clients throughout the UK and internationally.
